Significant basic chemicals capacity is being added globally and about 113 million m.t. of basic chemicals capacity will be added during the next five years, with over 30 million m.t. capacity each for ethylene, propylene, and methanol, Mark Eramo, v.p./global chemical business development at IHS Chemical tells delegates at the Third Annual Asia Chemical Conference, which began today in Singapore. The additional capacity will also include capacity for para-xylene, benzene, and chlorine, Eramo says.
