Compared with the second quarter of 2015, SK Global Chemical's operating profits decreased 51% and sales 8.9% in the past quarter. The decline in operating profits reflects weak product margins, SK Innovation says. Ethylene margins narrowed on supply rising with the completion cracker turnarounds in the region; polyethylene margins remained stable on lower naphtha prices and steady demand, SK Innovation says. Para-xylene (p-xylene) margins remained stable, while benzene margins were weaker because of regional oversupply, the company says.
